The SIMS XVII meeting held September 14th-18th, 2009 in Toronto was a wonderful success. We anticipate additional information on the website reporting on the conference in the next two weeks (photos, reports, etc.)
In the meantime, following from the great fellowship and scientific and engineering work that was reported at the conference, the organizers remind you that Proceedings papers are due at the Wiley SIA website by September 30, 2009.
The editors will be working diligently to get reviews accomplished in the next month.

Highlights from SIMS XVII:
- Over 330 abstracts submitted to the conference
- 150 submitted papers selected for oral presentations
- 14 invited speakers
- 3 plenary addresses
- 160 posters during two poster sessions
Eighteen students were be presented with the SIMS Research Award for Student Paper Presented at the Conference.

The Conference chairs have completed discussions for publication of the SIMS XVII Proceedings as a special issue in the Wiley journal, Surface and Interface Analysis. Instructions for submissions, including the index of presenting authors, is now available.
